UBB Community Day
On Saturday, June 14th, The United By Breakbeat Twitch team took over the 2Funky Complex in Leicester (UK) for a free party powered by the global Drum & Bass Twitch community!
69 ARTISTS. 6 ROOMS. 14 HOURS.
The event covered the full spectrum of drum and bass from liquid to jungle, dancefloor to rollers, neuro to jump-up. It was a complete celebration of sound, unity, and underground energy.
I was performing on the Interstellar Audio stage alongside Cellar, Loverka, Tpbee, Sereni7, Popwinn, Cainah and SoylentGreen; all of which are genuinely great people. I also got to meet the legend John B, who was performing on the main stage alongsize the event host, Guddah.
Things kicked off at 2pm. The sun was shining and the vibes were flowing for an afternoon of laid-back liquid dnb outside on the 2Funky Lounge terrace.
Inside, things were heating up with with each of the stages showcasing a different sub-genre and as the Interstellar Audio stage came to a close in the early evening, the party continued across the remaining stages until 4am!
This was a community event, and the community really came together. The crowd mostly consisted of fellow Team UBB DJs from across the globe, all supporting each other and their shared love of drum and bass. For many, this was the first time DJing in front of a live crowd and the excitement of doing that was a joy to see!
For those who couldn’t make it IRL, each stage was streamed live on Twitch with hundreds of people tuning in from all corners of the world making this community event truly global!
The next day, the buzz on the UBB Discord and Instagram was wild. Everyone was sharing their photos and favourite moments and there’s been nothing but love for the event since.
It’s safe to say that, what started as just one of Guddah’s crazy ideas, the UBB Community Day turned out to be a huge success and will hopefully be returning next year!
