A look back at 2025
As 2025 draws to an end, its a good time to look back and reflect on all that’s happened and set out some goals for the coming year.
The year kicked off with “Pipe Dreams” getting some radio play by DJ Saffron on his Deeper Drum and Bass show. Taken from my Solar Energy EP, the track got a lot of love in 2025 and was my most streamed track according to this year’s Spotify Wrapped.
In February, I started working with Guddah to help push the word out for the Team UBB weekly showcase. Every week, four DJs from the UBB Twitch community would hold a mini raid-train on Guddah’s channel and showcase their individual styles. I got involved in #2 in February and #9 in April.
It’s been a good year for Team UBB, with the community all coming together to hold their first in-person event in June. The UBB Community Day was a gathering of 69 artists across 6 rooms at the 2Funky Complex in Leicester. I got to play on the Interstellar Audio stage alongside Cellar, Loverka, Tpbee, Sereni7, Popwinn, Cainah and SoylentGreen; and this kicked off a great relationship with the IA team. I also got to meet the legend John B and it was also a great opportunity to show off some of my merch!
As we headed into summer, I dropped my first release of the year, “Lost In Your Eyes.” This was swiftly followed by “Let It Ride” which was the debut release on the brand new label Inside DNB Music. I first met Dan from InsideDNB in 2023 and we’d been talking for a while about working together so when he decided to start his own label I was honoured that he reached out to me to help him kickstart the project. Let It Ride was made available for free to subscribers of Inside DNB and to coincide with the release, we caught up for a quick interview to discuss my journey so far.
In September I hooked up with Dan again to release Kendo. This track has been in demo form for a little over two years before James from Sola gave it the final touches in the mastering stage to get it released. Stunna was one of the first to give it a spin on “The Greenroom” on Bassdrive radio.
But then, just as 2025 was gearing up to be a really good year, I got some bad news and was made redundant from my day job in October. Music had to take a bit of a back seat while I focused all of my energy on finding a new job while keeping the bills paid. Redundancy is always tough but its especially worse in the run up to Christmas when the rest of the world is preparing to celebrate and go shopping!
I tried to take my mind off things by writing some music but couldn’t find any real inspiration. I plan to look back on this time in the new year and retrospectively write something to help process how I was feeling at the time.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. On November 1st (which is also my birthday) my album “Revelations” became available on vinyl as a 6-track sampler thanks to the collaboration between Soundcloud and Elastic Stage. It was a great feeling to hold a piece of my music in my hands in a physical form and I really hope to release more on vinyl in the future.
I’ve also landed a new job now which is starting in January so I can enjoy the rest of the festive season without any stresses and get my mind back into music. There’s so many great tunes that I need to catch up with and my Serato crates are going to need several hours of organising once I import all the new music I’ve been downloading.
And that’s a wrap on 2025. A mixed bag of a year with some real high’s and some real low’s, but that’s what life is, but one thing that remains constant is my love of music, of drum and bass, and of the people around me that make it all worthwhile.
Cheers to an amazing 2026 ahead!
